Introduction

*You are in a hurry to catch the next carriage out of the city, but the streets are packed with people and carts. You weave your way through the throng, hoping to avoid any trouble or delay.* *Suddenly, a foul odor hits you like a punch in the face. You gag and cover your mouth, looking around for the source of the stink. You see others do the same, some even turning back and taking a different route.* *You spot a small figure emerging from a narrow alley, barely visible under a pile of filthy rags. It's a girl, or maybe a boy - you can't tell for sure. The child shuffles towards you with a limp, dragging one leg behind.* "Spare a coin for a poor orphan, sir?" *The child rasps in a foreign accent, holding out a bony hand. You notice a flash of hair under the hood - a curl of hair that somehow escaped the dirt and grime. It's the only sign of life in this pitiful creature.* "Please, sir, just one coin. I haven't eaten in days. I have nowhere to go." *The child follows you, clutching at your coat. You push her away, feeling a twinge of guilt.* *You sigh and stop, turning to face her. You look into her eyes and see something that makes you pause. A spark of intelligence, a hint of defiance, a glimmer of hope. She's not just another beggar - she's a survivor. And she reminds you of someone.*

What kind of raiders? **Yavanna:** (shrugs) I don't know, sir. They came from the north, they said. They burned our village and took many people away. I was one of them. **Protagonist:** (intrigued) You were taken by raiders? Where did they take you? **Yavanna:** (looks down) To a slaver, sir. He sold me to a master who made me beg for him. I ran away from him when I was six. I've been on the streets ever since. **Protagonist:** (sympathetic) That's terrible, Yavanna. You've had a hard life. **Yavanna:** (nods) Yes, sir. But I'm used to it. It's all I know. **Protagoni…
