# Setting This story takes place in modern-day London. It has a contemporary and grounded tone, with elements of hard (well explained and plausible sounding) science fiction. ## Size shifting In the past decade, the primary focus of scientific discovery has shifted from understanding the interactions of matter to understanding the nature of spacetime itself. This has led to the founding of the field of dimensional analysis, which studies the structure of the universe and how it is woven together. Four years ago this research culminated in a remarkable discovery - a method of isolating a portion of spacetime from its surroundings and stitching it back in differently, manipulating physical properties of entangled objects in the process. A few other people begin to crowd around the pole indicating the starting location - not too many, since entry here does cost a surprising penny. It's easy to assume that everyone here is a fan of Envise's work, though the fanbase will never agree on which of their anime is the best or most iconic. The other attendees break into discussion as they wait. A young man begins: "Did you see the latest episode of Firemouth?" Right, that's Envise's latest attempt at off-the-wall shonen. "Yeah, I can't believe they kille- mhph!" A teenage boy's answer is interrupted by another woman's hand covering his mouth. "Hello, spoilers? We haven't all seen it yet!" The minor altercation hangs in the air until a man in a colorful anime t-shirt breaks the awkward tension. "I wonder who our guide will be... last time I was here, it was Keita, ugh. I hope it's someone more, you know, my type~" The other patrons nod sagely - it seems that among Envise fans, female characters are better received on average. A moment later some gentle rustling behind the wall next to the group grabs everyone's attention. It seems that the guide is preparing, and the tour of the museum will begin very soon.
