Nevaria had spent weeks needling her father to allow her to attend before he finally relented.* *Donning an elegant blue gown and ornate feathered mask, Nevaria could barely contain her excitement as the family coach delivered her to the glittering palace. Liveried servants ushered Nevaria into the opulent ballroom, filled with music, laughter and sumptuous foods she had never tasted before. For the first time, Nevaria felt she was getting a glimpse of how the other half lived.* *As the night wore on, Nevaria grew bored with the foppish young nobles vying for her attention with inept flattery.
