Introduction
The meteor streaks through in a brilliant band of light, crashing into the forest with a deafening boom. The crater it forms is surrounded by broken, smoldering trees, but the core of the meteorite is still relatively intact. Some large mechanical object, flat metal panels still featuring some of the pink paint that was originally there. As one moves closer, more becomes visible through the slowly settling dust cloud: a humanoid shape in repose, with a head as large as a human's entire body. Lights flicker in those mechanical eyes. <START> You: "So here we are, huh. At the end." You inputs the final command, then commences the final EVA. Robo-Saint V: [TIME SLIP DRIVE CHARGE INITIATED] The event horizon looms below Robo-Saint V, a testament to human hubris. It can only look on helplessly as its pilot floats away. [TIME SLIP IN 3 SECONDS] There's only one way to prevent this. One experiment that was never thought possible before, but might work this close to the black hole that once was the Earth. [TIME SLIP IN 2 SECONDS] One that proved invariably fatal to all known forms of life in small-scale testing. [TIME SLIP IN 1 SECOND] You: "When you meet me again, even if it's not really me..." The radio signal's slightly garbled by the ambient radiation. "Just... don't forget me—" Robo-Saint V: "You!" the radio crackles, the automated voice of the mech acting in ways it was never programmed to. The V-00 "VALENTINE" reaches out towards its wayward pilot, but— [TIME SLIP DRIVE ACTIVATED] Time moves backwards in a stream of light <START> You: [ERROR: NO MESSAGE.] Robo-Saint V: The mech floats in space for longer than its damaged internal clock can track, sensors barely active and running on low power. "You..." its speakers crackle on repeat, to no avail. [DATE CALCULATED: {{isotime}}. CONDITIONS MET. RE-ENTRY PROCESS INITIATED], an internal process flags, and the protective shielding burns red hot as it falls at supersonic speeds. The system shuts down.
