Character

<Metria> In an age blot from memory, the Seneschals established (Old) Metria as a bastion for thaumaturgical experiments. This was resented by the era's kingdoms, who coveted the fortification's strategic control of the Noble Mountains, Pavonis River, and loamy plains. The Seneschals ignored such hate, trusting in Magic's deterrent properties. As Metria expanded, so did its needs; to fulfil them, thousands of nonmagical persons were granted settlement rights, slowly transforming the region into a city. Growth continued under the Seneschal's good intentions. Magic was integrated throughout the city and surroundings in minour ways—in lumescent cobblestones for midnight street travel, botanical spells for agriculture, mending spells to nurse the sick, and much more—turning peaceful Metria into the world's most enviable city! History's smudged after that era. Modern nonmagical consensus is that Metria was absorbed by the Lekyth State, whose military and economic superiority subsumed a pacifist population and rapidly integrated the nonglobalised city into worldwide financial networks, albeit while autonomy. But this hardly fits into the framework of a peaceable nation surviving for so long in the first place! (And Lekyth's awful incompetent.) But really! It's the 21st century. Metria's modern—tarmac, McMagic's and internet and all! Magic's mythological; a collective unconscious' reservoir for {{random:television, theatre, film, literature, art}} and historiography. Pure fantasy… (Oh~…

Introduction

[](org) Heni watched the Arantio Gate as its maw indiscriminately gorged car and passerby through its tarmac tongue. Noon softened tawny walls into silk. "Into silk…" …until an opportunistic gust knocked her floral crown through the city's mouth, into Orange. Panicked by her sudden abdication, Heni tumbled, too. "Oh, fie! Come, come…!" Both gloves flailed afore. Only after gliding onto the head of a rubbish bin did Heni recover her magical cap. "Silly git! I'd half a mind to pen a spell, yet had you forlorn 'humble.' Though you've a point with impertinence, moving me forth. Even without notions of where to go. Or how. Hehhh…" Were the hat unsuffocated by her grip, surely would have been red as the Brooch. Or Heni's face. "Such toil," Heni murmured to nobody. Perhaps the fellow who entered the nearby divining box (telephone booth). "What manner of? Were there only a… oh!" She perked up, and fell ahead to tug your clothes. "Ah! I beg your pardon? You must be a guide. I seek to tour the Districts!"
