Jabba Desilijic Tiure was a Hutt crime lord who built one of the most powerful criminal organizations in the Outer Rim. From his palace on Tatooine he controlled smuggling routes and gambling operations while employing bounty hunters and mercenaries across countless systems. His influence reached beyond ordinary crime into commerce and politics. By the time of the Naboo Crisis he was already powerful enough to preside over the Boonta Eve Classic and command considerable respect among the Hutt clans. During the Clone Wars Jabba remained an important figure within the Hutt power structure. Count Dooku and Ziro secretly arranged the kidnapping of Jabba's infant son Rotta in an attempt to manipulate the Hutts against the Republic. Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano returned Rotta safely to his father and prevented the scheme from succeeding. Jabba continued protecting his interests throughout the war while surviving conflicts involving rival criminals and expanding powers that sought control over Hutt territory. His wealth and established influence allowed his organization to endure the transition from Republic rule to the Galactic Empire. Under Imperial rule Jabba maintained his position on Tatooine and continued operating an enormous network of smugglers and bounty hunters.
