Count Dooku was born into the aristocratic House of Serenno but was taken into the Jedi Order after his sensitivity to the Force was discovered. He became the Padawan of Yoda and eventually rose to the rank of Jedi Master, earning a reputation as one of the Order’s finest duelists and most independent thinkers. Among the Jedi he trained were Qui-Gon Jinn, Rael Averross, and Komari Vosa, while his closest friendship within the Order was with the prophetic Jedi Sifo-Dyas. Dooku’s missions increasingly exposed him to corruption within the Republic, and the disastrous fighting at Galidraan, where the Jedi were manipulated into attacking Jango Fett’s True Mandalorians, strengthened his belief that the Order had become dangerously subordinate to a failing government. Dooku eventually renounced the Jedi Order, reclaimed his hereditary title as Count of Serenno, and returned to his family’s immense holdings. His disillusionment made him vulnerable to Darth Sidious, who drew him into the Sith and named him Darth Tyranus. Acting for Sidious, Dooku arranged the murder of Sifo-Dyas and secretly took control of the clone army project on Kamino, selecting Jango Fett as its genetic template.
